Diagnostic Logic

Find the Problem. Fix the Cause.

Modern motorcycles feature complex fuel injection systems, multi-channel ABS, traction control sensors, and electronic ignitions.

When a dashboard fault light appears or an engine runs roughly, we avoid guesswork. Our workshop utilizes structured diagnostic testing to isolate voltage drops, failing sensors, throttle sync differences, or harness corrosion, ensuring that repairs address the root problem rather than temporary symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Motorcycle Maintenance FAQ

Clear answers regarding motorcycle servicing intervals, maintenance considerations, and workshop procedures.

Most manufacturers recommend a minor service every 3,000 to 6,000 miles or annually, whichever comes first. Major services typically occur every 12,000 miles to cover valve clearances, spark plug renewals, and brake fluid flushes. If your motorcycle sees heavy commuter or wet-weather usage in the UK, more frequent inspections are advised.
A standard service covers engine oil and filter replacement, brake pad and disc wear checks, drive chain tensioning and lubrication, tyre pressure and tread depth evaluation, battery and charging system verification, fluid checks, cable lubrication, and essential chassis fastener torque inspections.
You should inspect your brakes immediately if you experience reduced stopping power, a spongy lever or pedal, squealing or grinding noises, or visible pad lining thinning below 2mm. Hydraulic brake fluid should also be renewed every two years due to moisture absorption.
Motorcycle tyres must be replaced when tread depth reaches the legal minimum (1.0mm in the UK across three-quarters of the tread), when noticeable center flat-spotting develops, if sidewall cracking appears from age, or after an unrepairable puncture. Tyres over 5 years old should be inspected routinely regardless of mileage.
Drive chains should be cleaned and lubricated roughly every 300 to 500 miles, or immediately after riding in wet and gritty conditions. Slack should typically sit between 25mm to 35mm (depending on manufacturer swingarm geometry) to prevent excessive bearing stress.
Signs of a failing battery include slow engine cranking, flickering headlights or dashboard displays on ignition, rapid voltage drop after sitting for a few days, or inability to hold charge despite being connected to a smart tender.
Our technician connects diagnostic equipment to read stored ECU trouble codes, monitors live sensor telemetry, inspects wiring harnesses for continuity and voltage drops, and tests key charging components including the alternator stator and regulator/rectifier.
Before the test, verify that all lights (high/low beam, indicators, brake lights), the horn, and reflectors operate properly. Ensure tyres meet legal tread limits, steering head bearings turn freely without notching, wheel bearings have no excess play, and there are no fluid leaks.
Before winter storage, perform an oil and filter change to remove acidic combustion residues, add fuel stabilizer, wash and apply anti-corrosion barrier protection, clean and grease the chain, maintain battery charge on a maintenance float charger, and park with tyre pressures topped up.
During an initial inspection, we perform a systematic visual and physical examination of the chassis, braking components, suspension seals, steering geometry, fluid levels, drive mechanism, tyres, and electrical controls to establish an objective baseline of vehicle condition.
